Hungary, 2002, 77 min, color

lady picks lilies-of-the-valley, women sew in the dressmaker's shop, men bowl in a pub, the bee keeper spins the honey, a mechanical harvester harvests the wheat, which in the mill will be made into flour, and then in grandma's kitchen into dumplings and throughout all this the policeman investigates a murder This almost unclassifiable picture has the look of a precisely shot ethnographic/nature documentary, but appearances are deceptive. It is a truly original, beautifully shot film full of droll humor.

"According to the concept, the descriptive, idyllic elements are combined and cut into a rhythmic sequence. An old man hiccoughs incessantly, providing a sort of narrative as the story unfolds. His hiccups give all the other noises a rhythm, and they all unite to form a motion-picture noise symphony. In the end, the sequence of idyllic scenes produces a very severe conflcit, a secret, a tragedy."
